World Cup MVP, tampa

I've known Vinny Lecavalier since he was a rookie here in Tampa and I was writing for an online hockey magazine. I was very excited when our guys won the Stanley Cup this past spring but I can honestly say that I have never been so proud of Vinny as I was last night when he was named as the MVP in the World Cup of Hockey after Canada finished the tournament with a perfect 6-0 record, beating Finland 3-2.

Lecavalier has transformed himself into the dominant hockey player that everybody expected. On a team of superstars - of which he wasn't originally selected for - Vinny was great on offense and defense. Scoring or assisting on almost every game winning goal for Canada, none of which was prettier than the one he popped in from behind the goal line to defeat the Czech Republic in OT to move onto the finals. Way to go Vinny!

Of course, all of this excitement is now over as it appears that the NHL owners will announce a lockout this afternoon. Greedy pricks.
